Fee: Member $38/ Non-Member $48/ Workshop Sponsor $100
Winter is a great time to tackle woody invasive plants—as long as you can still identify them without their leaves. This workshop will cover the basics of identifying trees, shrubs, and vines from bark, buds, and other perennial characteristics. We will apply this knowledge to distinguishing the invasive plants that are rampant in our landscapes, as well as the beneficial native species often found in similar conditions. We will also explore how and why plants do (or don't) go dormant, and how understanding the growth cycles of invasive plants is key to managing them more effectively.
Instructor Meredith Gallogly is the Manager of Operations at Grow Native Massachusetts, where she has worked since 2014. An avid plant observer, she loves helping others discover the beauty of our native flora and understand its importance as the foundation of our ecosystems.
Enrollment is limited. Meeting location details will be sent to registered participants.
