Botanical Watercolour Painting ~ Winter Wreaths with Karen GreenSaturday 30th November 2024

Working from a selection of Winter foliage and flowers, you will learn how to compose, draw and paint from observation, using watercolour, to create a Winter Wreath botanical painting that reflects an understanding of the subject whilst capturing the beauty of the plants.
Karen, a botanical artist, will ease you into the workshop with some playful drawing exercises. Leading on from this, she will demonstrate how to compose your ‘wreath’ on paper, supporting you to create a detailed observational drawing of the intertwining plants. With one to one support and class demonstrations, you will experiment with watercolour techniques and accurate colour mixing to paint the foliage and flowers to create a finished wreath. During the session you will familiarize yourself with the materials and tools needed for botanical art and the techniques used, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.
