About this Event
Amid the beauty of Meadville’s Greendale Cemetery are the stories of the community’s most prolific historical figures. Some played a part in our nation’s history, some brought the area to prominence, and some were just plain characters. Now you can hear their stories while also enjoying a walk amid the beauty of the cemetery’s blooming rhododendrons. Join the Crawford County Historical Society on January 4, 2025 for this one-day only winter walking tour as we give a guided tour of Greendale Cemetery.
Choose from 1 of 3 sessions* to learn about the cemetery’s origins and landmarks as well as how many of those interred there played a role in shaping Crawford County’s Legacy. We will be enjoying the winter weather and scenery as we walk through the cemetery - winter attire and boots/weather dependable shoes required.
*Additional sessions may be add based on demand.• Parking is available along Greendale Street and along Randolph Street.• Please do not block residential driveways or thruways within the cemetery.• Keep in mind, the tour will follow main roads through the cemetery when possible; however, some stops are on steep terrain and may not be accessible to some.
*We will continue the tour during mild snowy weather, however if there is rain or seriously troublesome weather, we may postpone. If roads are not suitable to travel, we will announce a postponement date.
