About this Event
Wrap up warm and join us for a festive morning in nature, discovering how to identify trees in their winter splendour, along with some of the festive folklore, superstitions and traditions associated with our local trees and plants.
Guided by local naturalists, Wild Intrigue, this slow-paced exploration of Gateshead Riverside Park is a lovely opportunity to learn how to identify different tree species by their bark, buds and branch structure, and gain insights into the unique characteristics of winter trees.
Meeting Point:
The walk will begin and end by the Railway Quarter. Meet in the open area opposite Kenilworth House on High Level Road.

Please arrive for an 11am start, we will be finished by 12.30pm.
Additional Information:
• Open to all, most suited for adults and ages 12+ (under 18s must be acompanied by an adult ticket-holder)
• Please note that dogs are not permitted on this event.
• These walks will go ahead in rain or shine, so please dress accordingly!
• In the event of severe weather, the walk may be rescheduled. You will be notified in advance, via email, if this occurs.
• Please wear comfortable walking shoes + plenty of warm layers
• You might like to bring a camera or smartphone, and a notebook.
• If you need to warm up, why not pop into one of the pubs, bars or eateries in the Railway Quarter afterwards too?

Tier 1, Paying £0 - £3 per event
- I frequently stress about meeting basic* needs and don’t always achieve them.
Tier 2 , Paying £6 per event
- I may stress about meeting my basic needs* but still regularly achieve them.
Tier 3 , Paying £12 per event
- I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic needs*.
*BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transport.
