Registrations open February 14th, 7pm. 20 leader, 20 follower and 25 paired (leader + follower) tickets on offer. $200 per person. Individual events on sale in June if there are tickets left. Limited availability because of venue restrictions. No door sales, but will advertise available on the day of the event.
Our biggest event on the Hobart Swing Calendar is happening again this year, with Evita Arce from USA/Sydney. Evita is an international renowned performer and teacher and we are super excited to have her in Tasmania.
Friday July 5th
7-11pm: Welcome dance with Eleanor Webster Quartet (including FREE beginner class). Yummy food, dessert and drinks on sale. No BYO.
Saturday July 6th
10am-12:30pm - Workshop session 1: "Rhythmic Play in Lindy Hop"
Evita's first session will introduce multiple rhythmic footwork options that Leaders and Follows can use while social dancing. The goal is to be able to add in little ideas which flavour your familiar and foundational moves. The concepts will start easy but get tricky as the class progresses.
1:30pm-4pm - Workshop session 2: "Solo Jazz Essentials that you will ALWAYS use" The second session will take you through Evita's solo Jazz step exercises to prepare you for transitions between ideas and build your confidence with improvising.
8pm-11:30pm: Winter Ball with Southern Lights Big Band. BYO
Sunday July 7th
11am-1:30pm- Workshops session 3: "Fun Charleston moves that use Momentum" To finish the weekend and keep your energy up, Evita will teach a combo of partnered Charleston moves that require healthy momentum and clear commitment to direction.
2pm-5pm- Sunday relaxed after party. DJs Scott Fraser and Simon Chadwick. Bar open. You can order food and bring up to the venue.
There are two 1hour and 15mins classes per workshop session. Classes are for intermediate-level dancers.
Tickets are non refundable but transferable.
