Our Winter Speaker Series kicks off January 15 with the Cold War story of CIA agent Bill Tonesk.Anna Mazurkiewicz will join us from Poland to discuss the fascinating story of Bill Tonesk, a Polish-American Schenectadian who served in the US Intelligence service (CIA) during the Cold War. She'll uncover a narrative of passionate love, risk, glamor, and secrecy, and examine how support from Polish American organizations was instrumental in Tonesk’s success.
Mazurkiewicz is historian and deputy dean at University of Gdańsk, Poland, and the author of “A Man in the Room Where It Happened: The Cold War Odyssey of William J. Tonesk.”
