About this Event
Knowledgeable guides will discuss the night sky, nocturnal wildlife, Government Canyon history, and more. The hike is approximately a one-mile round trip over fairly level terrain.
Who Is Invited:
This hike is open to all ages. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.
This is a public program intended for individuals or families. If you would like to bring a group for a program at Government Canyon, please contact the Park Interpreter at [email protected] to schedule at a different time.

Registration, Fees, Day Pass & Cancellation: Registration is required for this hike. Sorry, no group registrations.
Registration opens on Saturday, two weeks prior to the event, and closes at noon, the Thursday before the event. Though the hike is free, to the Natural Area apply.
To save time at the Fee Booth and ensure entrance on crowded days, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a . SPECIAL NOTE: Reserving a Day Pass is NOT the same as making a program reservation.

When & Where to Meet: Meet at the Rock Garden beside the Visitor Center. Please be in place and ready to go no later than 5:45 pm.
What to Wear & Bring: Dress for hiking outdoors with layers that can be added if the night is chilly; comfortable shoes and a hat are recommended. Bring at least 1 liter of water per person.
