The Winter Solstice is the time of the year where we are at the day where the daylight is the shortest and the night is the longest. There are many traditions that celebrate this time of year. It is a time where we can really journey deep into the darkness and make it an ally. We will journey and connect with this dark night and welcome the return of the light. In addition to this we will also be doing a "Give Away". This is a ceremony that was passed to me from a friend that I would like to share. Please see below on how to prepare for that. After we have shared about our journey we will participate in a most sacred ceremony called GiveAway. To honor the ending of the year and the beginning of a new year it is helpful to ask, what is it in our life that no longer serves us? What is calling to be released? Is it an attitude, habit, idea or something else? Is it a feeling, thought or emotion? GiveAway is a chance to honor, through release, the service this aspect of your life has provided you. GiveAway allows us the opportunity to totally open ourselves in gratitude and allows us to more completely move on in love. Put another way, we are thankful for the lessons we have learned on this part of life’s path but it is time to journey further into our core or souls purpose.
Please bring one wrapped item to give away to another participant in the GiveAway. This item is symbolic of what you are releasing or giving away. Through the release of a material object that represents what we wish to end in our life, we release the negativity it might have held for us and move on to a new beginning. However, since the negativity is released in the act of giving away, the item itself does not carry this negativity to its recipient.
The item is most often something you already possess and are ready to pass on. You can also make something to symbolize what you want to release. Finally, it is fine if you want to buy something. It’s all about the intention.
Please don’t wrap the give away like a traditional present. Just put it in something like a brown paper bag so what is inside is disguised.
