Come join us in Greenfield Township, Orange County on the Winter Solstice as we explore the rich history of Growing up Along the Buffalo Trace. Early travelers, explorers (Lewis and Clark!), and pioneer settlers followed the ancient Buffalo Trace right through the center of Orange County. The natural beauty they encountered in Orange county enticed many to stay and build their homes and new life. Join as we explore the rich history of the Buffalo Trace near Tucker Lake. See where the ancient path the American Woods Bison traveled for 10,000 years met the new and improved trail 1000's of wagon trains followed to a new future somewhere "out West".
Meet in the Springs Valleys Recreation area trailhead parking lot at the head of the horse trail on Sunday, December 21. We will start the tour at 2:00 pm. We will then take a hike to the Buffalo Trace and learn about early settlement in the area. This is a hiking tour in the Hoosier National Forest.
