Starting on Dec 15th with the Doug Bowden Winter Series #1, this set of free races for HMRRC members (and $5 for non-members) are no-frills races to keep your fitness up during the winter months. We assemble at the SUNY Athletic Facility (PE building) prior to the races and wrap back up with soup, coffee and snacks from Bountiful Bread. You can sign up for all the races through our Wild Apricot Membership Portal. https://membercommunications.hmrrc.com/
This is a great way to meet like-minded runners and join our running community. Each event has races at varying lengths, with a short 3.5 miler and one or two longer races, designed to get you ready for a spring marathon, if so desired.
Remember one of the features of the Winter Series is the ‘Survivor Award.’ To be a ‘Survivor,’ you must participant in all the events, including volunteering in at least one. All volunteers for an HMRRC race receive a one-year membership to the club.
This Survivor Award is a longstanding tradition we are proud to continue. If you qualify, application forms will be available at Winter Series #4 with our swag award at Winter Series #5. This year’s award will be a Winter Series Survivor logo rechargeable light up reflective vest – come see pictures at the Race.
Help The Food Pantries throughout the Winter Series by bringing a canned item such as soups, stews, or canned tuna/chicken. Other items in need are jars of sauce, spaghetti/pasta, oatmeal and toiletries
