Winter sowing is a simple, cost effective way to start seeds in the winter. You will plant in milk jugs and put them outside in the elements. They require minimum effort and will produce strong healthy plants in the spring. It is a perfect way to start native plants that need cold stratification. There will be a short presentation and demonstration of the technique. Each participant will plant their own milk jug to take home. All materials (media, jugs, seeds, and labels) will be provided to plant one milk jug per person. If you want to plant more, bring a bag of germination mix like Jiffy. And, if you want to start a specific seed, bring a newly purchased packet with you.
Held in the Baldwin Room.
