10am - 11:30am, Winter Seed Sowing Presentation11:30am - 1pm, Seed Swap
Back by popular demand! Door County resident and veteran gardener Karen Kidd will explain how you can sow seeds outdoors in milk jugs and place them outside for the winter. This hands-off approach allows the seeds to experience the conditions required for germination, and each kind of seed will then decide for itself when the time is right to sprout.
Winter sowing is a fun and exciting technique for growing hardy and beautiful plants, flowers, herbs, and vegetables. And you can start as early as January! You can get your garden started without the fuss of seed starting kits, heat lamps, and yards of counter space.
Immediately after Karen’s presentation (11:30am - 1pm), the Door County Seed Library will host a seed swap–we’ll be sharing several Door County-grown varieties that local gardeners have generously donated. If you have seeds to share, please bring them along, but if not, no worries! Everyone is welcome to pick up some free seeds.
