$800K of Taxpayer Dollars

The stats don’t lie!
City of Winter Park - Government is considering turning one of the city’s most historic and picturesque blocks into a cut-through street, making 426 even more dangerous by installing a traffic light after a sharp curve. FDOT has confirmed that traffic and accident data do not meet the requirements for a light, yet the City is still considering moving forward with a light as part of an 11th hour change to an approved plan that was very well supported.
Ask yourself:
Do you want $800,000 of your tax dollars spent on a traffic light that FDOT data shows could make a safe intersection dangerous?
Do you want more stop-and-go traffic on 426?
Do you want to set a precedent that allows the City to impact property values to satisfy well-funded and overly idealistic lobbyist/committees?
If this precedent is set, blocks like Bonita or Palm could be next to lighten traffic on Palmer and Temple.
As someone who tragically lost a dear friend in childhood due to being hit by a car on a once-quiet street, I am committed to helping this community not have this happen to them.
