Experience the outdoors in a whole new way on our Winter Night Hike at Meadowbrook! This is the first event in a series where we will meet seasonally to explore Shirley Heinze after dark. Guided by Bella, a Certified Interpretive Guide and Indiana Master Naturalist, this evening program invites participants to explore the sights, sounds, and sensations of the nighttime world. As we move quietly through the dark, we’ll listen for nocturnal wildlife, observe the night sky, and learn how both animals and humans adapt to low-light environments. Along the way, we’ll practice using our senses in new ways and discover how the preserve comes alive after sunset.
All ages are welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Difficulty: Easy to moderate; slow, mindful pace. The trail at Meadowbrook varies from gravel paths to moderate trails with stairs and bare roots. We will meet at the Meadowbrook Pavilion.
What to Bring: Weather-appropriate layers, sturdy shoes, and a red-filtered flashlight or headlamp (if you have one).
Please note that our restrooms will be closed for the season, and this event will begin at 5 pm Central Time.
