Friends of Wood Duck Nature Preserve will hold its annual Winter Nature Walk on Saturday, December 20th. Coffee and other refreshments will be available at 7:30-8:00 am under the pavilion. The walk will begin at 8:00 am. Restroom is available at the pavilion. The trail around the lagoon is 2 miles and may take about two hours to hike. You are welcome to return to the parking area at any time. Birders and nature enthusiasts of all experience level are welcome to join. Of special interest will be migrating waterfowl and any other active wildlife species. The trail can be muddy in some areas, so plan to wear appropriate footwear. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Some loaner binoculars will be available. Highlights will include wood ducks, ring-necked ducks, buffleheads, lesser and greater scaups, green-winged teals, killdeer, sparrows, kinglets, woodpeckers, songbirds, and other resident bird species.
