She has been a member of the Margaret Sue Rust Foundation since 2005.
Susie is also a fabric artist and a lifelong sewist and crafter. She occasionally teaches in South Texas and displays her work at Windway Gallery and Rockport Center for the Arts.
Her involvement in The Texas Maritime Museum began in 1983. It included two terms as BOD president, five years on the board of directors, and participation in multiple capital campaigns for the museum. She has also been a supporter/advisor to every executive director the museum has had, beginning with the museum's opening in 1989.
