Dr. Watson will be speaking about the natural history of the endangered Sand Gilia (Gilia tenuiflora ssp. arenaria) and it significance in the coastal strand and maritime chaparral plant communities. Discussion will include the status of Sand Gilia in the former Fort Ord, with emphasis on the threat presented by Torrey Pines.Please bring a tasty dish to share. Whether your food is homemade or store-bought—savory or sweet—it will all be appreciated. Please identify your offering and put your name on the container (in case you leave it!) Also, bring your own non-alcoholic drink and reusable dishware and utensils so that we have a zero-waste event.
