Winter Fruit Tree Pruning

When it comes to basic care and pruning of fruit trees, there are many different techniques, several of which have predictable results. Winter pruning is a great way to encourage vigorous growth, improve fruit yield and quality, and so much more. This class will help you optimize the performance of your fruit trees according to your own needs and the specific environment in which the trees are growing. The spotlight will primarily be on, but not limited to, the summer pruning of fruit tree varieties appropriate to the North Coast climate, specifically apples, pears, and select stone fruits. Learn how the time of year and type of pruning cut can greatly influence the success of your fruit trees. We will cover a complete year’s cycle of tree growth – from the tree’s perspective as well as our own.
SAVE THE DATE for a Summer Fruit Tree Pruning workshop with Di on Sunday, July 12. Registration will open soon!
About the Instructor
Di Scott brings 25 years of hands-on experience managing coastal orchards and a lifetime of horticultural expertise to this class. As the owner of Point Arena Pizza, she’s known for serving up delicious slices, but her true passion lies in cultivating thriving landscapes. When she’s not teaching or tending fruit trees, Di plays a key role in designing and maintaining her family’s breathtaking coastal garden, Frog Song Farm. Her deep-rooted knowledge and practical approach make her an invaluable guide to the art of fruit tree pruning.
