A delightful pairing of musical acts, this winter concert will feature the organic and soulful Sopa Sol and the folk-rock singer-songwriter duo Clymer & Kurtz. $15-30 suggested donationABOUT SOPA SOL – sopasol.com – In 2010 Daryl and Frances began collaborating while in graduate school at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP) at Eastern Mennonite University. Daryl was exploring how to use his music to promote health, growth and new connections. Frances was working to root her music vocation in peacebuilding. Both view music as more than entertainment. Sopa Sol draws on their experiences in other countries and cultures – including Kenya, Haiti and Brazil – to explore music that is transformative in individual lives, communities and the broader society.
ABOUT CLYMER & KURTZ – clymerkurtz.com – Clymer & Kurtz is an “exquisite!” “subtle,” “always imaginative,” and “soul filling” folk-rock singer-songwriter duo from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Over the Rhine described their EP What If You Knew with “It’s all so lovely with a quietness that makes it feel like a surprise when eyes suddenly fill with tears. Beautiful.” Maria Clymer (vocals, guitar, piano, light percussion) and Christopher Kurtz (vocals, guitar) have been partners in life and music for more than two decades, along the way releasing albums and EPs that trace the landscapes and jagged edges of daily life.
