About this Event
The Bay’s new and improved Beatmaking School provides youth ages 10 - 14 with the fundamental, transferable knowledge required to produce digital music not only in the GarageBand app, but in nearly any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
Over the course of 6 weeks, The Bay's trained music instructors will help students develop their social-emotional and technical skills through both physical and digital activities. Students will learn to maximize the full extent of GarageBand by exploring how the basic elements of music relate to one another over time, and by using foundational music production techniques to create their own original music that they can burn to a CD and listen to anywhere!
Beatmaking School is divided into three skill levels, requiring demonstrated technical learning — such as learning the basic elements of music, working with loops, recording, exporting, and sharing their favorite beats — along the way.
Beatmaking School at the Benson Community Center in Omaha is offered seasonally in six-week* sessions, which encourages students to come back every week to hone their technical skills. Registration includes all necessary music equipment, and a signed waiver** is required for all participants.
*In the event of inclement weather, we will extend Beatmaking School by one extra week to account for a makeup session.*
**Our liability waiver MUST be completed by a parent/guardian prior to attending.**
Levels 1-3
This registration is for any/all students, regardless of their skill level. Students will learn everything from the basic elements of music to recording, exporting, and sharing their favorite beats with the class. Graduates of Level 3 will also receive their own special prize from The Bay to continue their music journey!
