At Daarwin, we believe that repetition can lead to stagnation, so we decided that the third
year of the Winter Art Festival would be its grand finale. From December 13 to 15, 2022, we
celebrated this three-day event, marking the end of an incredible journey. Under the theme
“Dystopian Kolkata,” the festival transformed North Kolkata’s Jagat Mukherjee Park and
into a vivid celebration of both our past achievements and future visions.
It was the perfect conclusion to a creative chapter.
Here's how we brought this vision to life:
*****************************************
1. Mural and Alpana Artists: The festival was adorned by independent and notable
muralists and alpana artists, transforming the dystopian kolkata where the Winter
Art Festival began, into a stunning visual gateway.
2. Reused Durga Puja Pandal Materials: We collected reusable materials from Durga
Puja pandals to decorate the event space, turning the remnants of one festival into a
meaningful expression of thought and creativity.
3. Musical and Artistic Performances: The lineup featured renowned musicians and
artists whose performances embodied the essence of Kolkata, though the names will
be revealed soon to keep the excitement alive.
4. Business Stalls for Entrepreneurs: The festival also provided a platform for
entrepreneurs and businesses to showcase their work, encouraging innovation in line
with the city's evolving needs.
5. Anime Zone & Free Art Podium: A special Anime Zone and a Free Art Podium
were set up for the younger generation, bridging traditional and modern art forms
while nurturing their creativity.
6. Food Culture Revival: Our Special Food Zone was curated by top food bloggers and
local food stalls, celebrating Kolkata's unique culinary heritage and encouraging
people to rediscover the flavors that define the city.
7. Photography and Art Exhibition: Free and themed-based photography and painting
exhibitions were held, offering artworks for sale, allowing local artists to gain
visibility and connect with their audience.
8. Save Kolkata Discussion: Engaging conversations were held to raise awareness
about the importance of preserving Kolkata's heritage, with notable figures from the
community sharing their thoughts.
