About the workshop:
In this workshop we will be working on new and ongoing research into the themes of:

Microbatics & Orientation.

These two themes will be split into segments, but remain related as we progress through the day

Microbatics

The 'Microbatic' practice stems from a necessity of developing an approach to the world of inversions in a sustainable and somewhat holistic manner. It is partially inspired by some earlier setbacks and injuries during our education, which in turn required an adaptation and evolution for the working methodologies we will explore.
It forms the foundation of my practice and tries to present and invite the individual in integrating the acrobatic language seamlessly and precisely into their system. Through this approach perhaps the eventual aim being the ability of blurring the edges between what separates acrobatics and your personal approach to movement.

Orientation

The orientation practice splits into 3 pathways:

Agility/Partnering/Navigation

Agility
In this workshop the topic of agility will be addressed in a way where we look at understanding how to cultivate and explore different training scenarios orchestrated around the sub-chapters of balance, coordination, endurance, speed and strength. While exploring these themes we will be drawing particular focus on ‘the relationship’ between learning and failure; Purposely inviting the exposure of failure to rediscover and recognise its function.

Partnering
The Partnering work places a lens on the dialogue of the physical, cognitive and adaptive potential of interacting with each other. Here we'll use various approaches and scenarios of partnering to develop tools for learning, exploring and furthering our understanding of the body both in relation to the other as well as to our own way of moving. We are especially interested in leveraging our solo practices and seeing how it can be transmitted into partnering to help further understand and appreciate the possibility that these two systems of work can lend themselves towards the practitioners.

Navigation
Where does a practice begin and end? How do we structure and navigate each introduction to a new and/or old element? Why do we practice? How do we practice? How do we digest failure and success?
How do we see, hear, feel our practice? And what is our perspective?
These are some of the questions we will begin to puzzle with. Our aim being not to find the answers, but to keep looking for different ways to answer them. The navigation practice is attempting to explore and guide the practitioner through some of these questions we have not yet fully answered ourselves, and perhaps through working together we can begin to find our way through this terrain.
