The WINGS Learn to Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) program starts with a short land lesson to review simple safety tips and practical information to successfully operate a standup paddleboard (SUP). The process is broken down into how to get on the board from the dock, how to stand (or not stand), the mechanics of paddling, simple turns, and how to safely exit the board. As a group we’ll paddle to a quiet spot on Griffy Lake and then sit or recline on our boards for quiet meditation, taking in the sounds of nature. The lake is teeming with activity, from blue herons landing nearby to kingfishers flying overhead.
Space is limited to 15 participants.
The WINGS Learn to SUP program will be held on Sunday June 16th, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve (3400 N. Headley Rd. Bloomington, IN). The group will meet near the Griffy Lake Boathouse by the picnic tables. There is plenty of onsite parking and two pit toilets, however there is no running water on site, so participants are highly encouraged to bring a full drinking water bottle.
Lifejackets, paddles, and standup paddle boards will be provided. This program will take place outside and on the water, so please plan to dress accordingly. All WINGS participants will be asked to sign the Griffy Lake Boat Rental Agreement prior to launch.

Cost: FREE
