Winemaking at Vegas Valley Winery: The Crush

It's Winemaking Season at Vegas Valley Winery! You have the opportunity to MAKE WINE with us.

Your ticket grants you access to the Grape Crush and inoculation for Primary Fermentation of our 2024 Petite Sirah and your first glass of wine. This incredibly unique experience will be loved by seasoned wine lovers and wine newbies alike. It is a fun and educational experience.

Arrive at the winery 10-15 minutes before your 3:30 pm session to check in and select a glass of wine or hard cider to enjoy. (The first glass is included in your ticket price) Your winemaking host will guide you to the barrel-filled winery where you will meet other winemakers, receive instructions, and then begin assisting our professional winemakers in crushing hundreds of pounds of wine grapes.

The wine grapes will be introduced to the mechanical crusher de-stemmer (no feet involved in the crush!) with your help. This is a hands-on and potentially sticky experience as wine grapes are high in sugars, so dress comfortably in good no-slip shoes and in clothes that can withstand a little grape juice splash. You will be able to sample the grapes we are crushing and a variety of other wine grapes on hand.

After the Crush, you will attend and assist Primary Fermentation 101. The freshly crushed grapes will need to be inoculated with yeast and other nutrient to begin the conversion from Juice to Wine. You will learn all about the process of fermentation, participate in the process, and learn how to plunge the fermenting grapes for the optimal result.

After the work is done, you are welcome to socialize with your fellow winemakers, enjoy additional wine and food from the Tasting Room (not included in your ticket price), and enjoy the facility.
