About this Event
Every wine lover knows a Sauvignon from a Shiraz. But a Nuragus from a Nasco, or a Monica from a Muristeddu?
These wines come from the second largest island in the Mediterranean, a few miles off the coast of Italy, but a world apart in terms of winemaking heritage, scale and approach.
Better known for its glorious beaches, Sardinia has been producing wines commercially for the better part of 3,000 years, but they’re super-hard to find in the UK.
So we source ourselves, direct from family-run vineyards and co-operatively owned cantinas, and share them with curious wine lovers who enjoy going off the beaten track.
No stuffy tutorials here! It’s more a chance to find your tribe. We provide tasting notes (but mostly so you can remember what you’ve drunk!) and we encourage lots of conversation about wine, food, traditions, culture, travel … wherever the evening takes us.
Our hosts are Quirky Café & Bar, a cosy venue on Lendal Bridge with views across the river and a crazy sense of interior design. Your guide for the evening is Sardinian wine expert Cris Donateo.
Tickets include six generous tastings of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines with tasting notes, a traditional Sardinian sharing platter of cheeses and meats, plus savoury nibbles (veggie options available).
Coffee and other refreshments are available separately from the bar.
This is a small venue and spaces are limited.
