Sommelier Timothy Dillon will take us on a tasting tour of Le Du's curated wines from South Africa. South African wines straddle Old World and New: the wines often smell of ripe, silky fruit, but showcase earthy flavors and finish with restraint. Tasty, interesting wines that are great values are what this top-rated wine shop does best. Come meet some amazing professionals, and enjoy wine together!
- Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a lovely sparkling wine.
- Commentary and the full tasting begins at 7:00 pm.
- We will then offer generous, repeat tastings of six distinctive wines with commentary.
- Artisanal bread, cheese, and charcuterie will clear your palate between repeat tastings of this evening's selections.

About South African Wines:
South African wines offer impressively good value, and feature styles and tastes that are food-friendly, blending elegance and power. South Africa has been producing wine since the first vines were planted in the 17th century, brought by the Dutch governors of Cape Colony. A range of wine styles are made, from stunning blockbuster reds to full-bodied Chardonnay and crisp, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. Chenin Blanc, also known as Steen, is the local white workhorse grape capable of making impressive dry and sweet wines. Pinotage, South Africa’s own red grape (a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault) still leaves wine critics divided but can make great single-variety offerings as well as being a key component in Cape Blends.
