About this Event
Tuscany is a bastion of tradition in Italy. Home of many traditional wines including Chianti and Brunello, the region saw a new trend growing in the mid-20th Century, with many winemakers wanting to forge their own path. They gave birth to the ‘Super-Tuscan’ phenomenon, a winemaking adventure aiming to produce wines that defy the DOC rules. Using international grape varieties (mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) alongside local Sangiovese, they reaped incredible results and are today amongst collector’s favourites.
This lunch will be a wonderful opportunity to compare this Tuscan’s rising stars. The tasting will include high scoring and sought-after Siepi and Concerto made by the Mazzei family, legendary Tignanello by Antinori, Sassicaia’s second wine Guidalberto and iconic Testamatta by Bibi Graetz.
The lunch will take place in our charming garden rooms at Petersham Nurseries. Tariq Khan, our Private Sales Manager and ex Sommelier at The Fat Duck will take you thought the wines which will be served with a four-course meal curated by the executive chefs at Petersham Nurseries in Richmond.
