Tasting wine blind can be like a game - a chance to test your abilities and challenge your senses. One of the most interesting aspects to try to guess is what grape a wine is made from. Wine drinkers, both experienced and novice, come with ideas about what specific grapes are supposed to taste like - Cabernet is bold, pinot noir is light, Chardonnay is buttery, Sauvignon Blanc is citrusy. As helpful as these frames can be, they can also lead us astray when tasting wine for varietal, which is why blind tasting is such a fun and educational experience.
In this class, Laura Botten will lead you on a blind tasting experience through wines made from different grapes. Expect some made from grapes we are very familiar with and others with grapes you might not know yet. As you taste and discuss the wines, you will have the opportunity to guess the grape as well as other characteristics of the wine. This class will have games and challenges, so you can test knowledge and senses, all while having fun and trying new wines.
Must be 21+ to attend.
