This workshop is perfect for those looking to explore a classic and durable binding technique that combines both function and beauty. You will learn how to create a beautifully stitched book, using a centuries-old technique that results in a flexible, open-flat binding ideal for journals, sketchbooks, and more.
What You Will Learn:
- Introduction to Longstitch Binding: Discover the history and significance of the longstitch binding technique, known for its exposed stitching that allows the book to lay flat when open.
- Materials & Tools: Familiarize yourself with the essential tools and materials used in longstitch bookbinding, including needles, thread, bone folders, and bookbinding boards.
- Step-by-Step Binding Process: Learn how to stitch the book block (the collection of pages) and attach it to a hardcover, using the longstitch method. You will also explore how to create decorative stitching patterns that make each book unique.
