THE PAIRINGS

WHITE ASH: Welcome to White Ash, a small smudge of a mining community in Western Pennsylvania, where the secrets are buried even deeper than the coal under the mountain. If you’re a fan of Supernatural, Twin Peaks, or Lord of the Rings, you’re going to love getting to know this mysterious town. Created by screenwriter and producer Charlie Stickney and artist Conor Hughes with Colors by Fin Cramb.

Charlie Stickney is a writer/producer/father living in Los Angeles with his amazing wife and two (mostly) lovely children. A twenty-year veteran of the Entertainment Industry, Charlie produced the award-winning documentary The Entertainers and helped create the animated series Horrible Histories and Cosmic Quantum Ray. Charlie’s career in comics started with an internship in the editorial offices of Marvel. After a dalliance creating stories with pictures that move, Charlie has happily returned to his favorite medium, with White Ash.

PAIRED WITH: 2018 MeG (50% Mourvedre, 50% Grenache) - Bright summertime acidity meets freshly crushed red fruit and a kick of savory white pepper and woodsy thyme on the backend. This chillable, medium-bodied wine stays light on its feet while offering layers of unexpected complexity, much like the deceptively propulsive story of White Ash, that soon reveals layers of meticulous world building.

BOSTON METAPHYSICAL SOCIETY: The year is 1895. Here exists steam-driven rudimentary computers and electronics. And dirigibles rule the sky. But with it comes social and political upheaval as not everyone is comfortable with change.

That fear and the violence that followed caused a psychic rift to puncture the veil of space and time and allowed the entity known as "The Shifter" to escape. The only people who stand a chance in hell of destroying it are: Samuel Hunter, ex-Pinkerton Detective; Caitlin O’Sullivan, Medium and Spirit Photographer and Granville Woods, Scientist Extraordinaire.

They are the Boston Metaphysical Society. Wish them luck. They’re going to need it.

Created and written by Madeleine Holly-Rosing, a TV, feature film and comic book writer, and winner of the Sloan Fellowship for screenwriting, as well as the Gold Aurora and Bronze Telly for a PSA produced by Women In Film.

PAIRED WITH: N.V. T3 (50% Tempranillo 2017, 25% Tannat 2017, 25% Tempranillo 2016) - A unique "non-vintage" blend combining two wildly different vintages of Tempranillo, offering juicy red plum and tomato flavors combined with an earthy garrigue, then the Tannat lends integrated tannins and tart sour cherry to the mix. A trio of seemingly disparate wines that absolutely sing when together, much like the trio of protagonists in BMS, leaving a lasting impression.
