DC native, but now-established Athens artist, Wim Tapley released his newest full-length album, Red Door, earlier this month. From his first single in 2018, Tapley was always a promising artist and his recent success selling out the Georgia Theatre—not to mention the steady pace of releases he’s cranked out—are evidence of him fulfilling that promise. The new album is an incredibly well-produced record that showcases Tapley’s expansive songwriting style. Hollifield has deep roots. Drummer Drew Lewis and guitarist Connor Hollifield met in grade-school, where they bonded as two young musicians in their small hometown. Bassist Tommy Merritt became fast friends with Drew during their time at the University of South Carolina, and together the two create a one-of-a-kind rhythm section.
The three came together in October 2021, and released their debut album on March 31, 2023. A collection of four songs inspired by their journey through this beautiful life.
Hollifield draws influence from the carefree songwriting of George Harrison and Bob Dylan combined with the spontaneous and sensitive music of bands like Jimi Hendrix and The Band.
