Destination: Rivers Rest Marina, Chickahominy River
Round Trip Distance: ~80-100 miles
Join us for an exhilarating day on the water! We'll jet ski from Willoughby Boat Ramp to Rivers Rest Marina, cruising along scenic waterways, including the James River and Chickahominy River. Experience the beauty of Virginia’s waterways, from historic landmarks to picturesque riverside views!
Departure Time: We’ll hit the water at 8:30 AM sharp.
Route: Willoughby Boat Ramp → James River → Chickahominy River → Rivers Rest Marina (with a return back to Willoughby).
Estimated Travel Time: ~2 hours each way, depending on conditions.
Lunch Stop at Rivers Rest or Surry Seafood or Billsburg: Enjoy a relaxing break at the marina before the return trip.
Scenic Sights Along the Way:
Fort Monroe: As we head out from Willoughby Bay, we’ll pass this historic fortress, one of the largest stone fortifications in the U.S., offering views of the Hampton Roads area.
Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel: Cruise by this iconic bridge-tunnel system, which crosses the Hampton Roads waterway.
James River Plantations: We’ll ride past the beautiful shoreline of historic plantations, offering a glimpse into Virginia’s colonial past.
Jamestown Island: As we near the Chickahominy River, look out for the birthplace of America—Jamestown Island, where the first permanent English settlement was established in 1607.
Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area: As we enter the Chickahominy River, enjoy the scenic natural beauty of this wildlife haven, home to a wide variety of bird species and pristine wetlands.
