Local from San Jose, William Johnston is a genre-defying multi-instrumentalist, finally stepping into his own after a decade of accompanying some of the Bay Area’s top talent. His music is a truly original synthesis of many things, drawing from the wry wit of Steely Dan, the rhythmic elegance of traditional Brazilian and Cuban music, and the folky RNB of Al Green. William’s candid and delicate vocal stylings lay over a bed of his signature greasy rhythm guitar, creating a truly timeless experience.
Honey Plant! The fun-loving electro-funk band from Reno, Nevada. The two worker Bees met in San Jose, California and brought the jive hive to Reno, Nevada where they currently reside. With two new members, Dam Sam and Two Tone Noah, you won’t have to worry about expecting anything less than a good time with Honey Plant. Audience participation is a must whenever you are in the BeeHive. Wherever they end up you will walk away with a heart filled with funk and a phone filled with pictures. Honey Plant has its roots in the basics of funk. Bringing you that raw funk, with tight drums and slick but not fancy guitar licks - you find yourself hypnotized. Add in the mix A bassline that brings forth both dirty and polished bass lines. A variety of vocals will either bring you back in time to the soul of the 70s or ahead into the future. They do not let genres hold them back. You will see the roots and you will feel the contemporary notation to always push the boundaries of funk.
