Walk in the footsteps of William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army, on a trail through Nottingham and find out about Booth's younger life
About this Event

Join the curator of the William Booth Birthplace Museum on a walking adventure around Nottingham as you follow a trail of historical facts to discover the truth about William Booth, the co-founder of The Salvation Army, and his formative years in Nottingham. As you visit places associated with the young Booth, you will pass some of the city's sites of interest, including: the Council House, St Mary's Church, the Lace Market Theatre and St Stephen's Church (Sneinton).

To start, meet at 10.30am directly outside the Nottingham Tourism & Travel Centre on Smithy Row, Nottingham NG1 2BY, just off Old Market Square. The whole event (guided walk with museum visit at the end) should last approximately 2 hours and is about 1.8 miles in length. Some uneven ground will be covered, so please wear suitable footwear. Walking tour will go ahead regardless of the weather.

Free, but booking is essential (spaces limited to 12 people). Please cancel your ticket if unable to attend out of courtesy to others (cancel through Eventbrite or call or email the Museum). The walk will finish at the William Booth Birthplace Museum, Sneinton, Nottingham NG2 4QG around 12.30pm, when you will have an opportunity to visit the museum if you wish (free museum entry; donations welcome). Bus number 43 runs past the Museum along Sneinton Road and leads back into Nottingham city centre, for those wishing to go back into the city centre. Event run in association with the Sneinton Festival.
