Willie Buck, born Willie Crawford in 1937 in Houston, Mississippi, is a legendary figure in the Chicago blues scene, known for carrying the torch of the classic Muddy Waters–style blues for over 40 years. After moving to Chicago in 1953, he built a reputation as one of the last true old-school bluesmen, performing alongside top musicians like Magic Slim and Odie Payne and releasing a now-iconic LP in the early 1980s. Today, Buck continues to bring his authentic blues sound to Chicago’s clubs, backed by The Secret 4—a powerhouse all-instrumental band with deep roots in rockabilly, blues, rock, hip hop, and jazz. With members hailing from the Chicago and Detroit scenes, The Secret 4 blends decades of experience into a sound that’s been described as The Black Keys meets an instrumental Johnny Cash, creating the perfect modern edge to complement Buck’s timeless blues.
