About this Event
Join us for a special edition of Wine School with Morgan Beck, winemaker at iconic Johan Vineyards.
Johan has long been a reference point for biodynamic farming in the Willamette Valley, but Morgan’s work pushes far beyond checkbox sustainability. These are wines built from the ground up—deeply site-driven, thoughtfully restrained, and grounded in the belief that wine should be an expression of ecology, not ego. From Gamay and Chardonnay to Pinot Noir and estate-grown experiments, Johan’s wines balance clarity, texture, and energy in a way that feels both timeless and distinctly now.
In this intimate class, we’ll taste through a selection of Johan wines while digging into biodynamics beyond the buzzwords: what it actually looks like in the vineyard, how it shapes decision-making in the cellar, and how restraint, patience, and observation show up in the glass. We’ll also talk about Oregon outside the caricature of Pinot, and what it means to farm—and make wine—for the long view.
This is a class for anyone interested in wine as an agricultural practice, a philosophical one, and a lived commitment.
