Through intimate lyrics and thoughtful expression, He combines the familiar with the unknown, intertwining them into his well-known indie-folk-like style to explore what it means to grow and change as an individual. From an early age, Alexa Jenson was picking out songs on her acoustic guitar in her bedroom. Starting out in open mics, she carved out a space for herself in the Charlotte arts scene. Now, after selling out the clubs she came up in, she’s ready to take on the world. Armed with a heart full of basement pop sensibility, Alexa brings a unique voice to the indie scene; something that feels wholly influenced by the pitfalls of growing up in an increasingly unforgiving world, but with a fiery spirit that won’t quit. From quieter songs like “Fool in Love” that dissect the discomforts of admiration from afar, to the charged up songs like “Daylight” that exemplify feminine rage. This modern world is here to stay, and we should all be thankful that Alexa Jenson is here to say what we’re all thinking.
