Deer, rabbits, and squirrels, oh my! We're excited to host a FREE wilderness tracking workshop, "Reading the Secret Language of the Forest" - actually, it's not so secret! Animals communicate through a variety of means and leave unintentional signs of their presence everywhere you turn. You just have to know where to look!
Meet us on January 24th from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Caretaker's House, as Dan Yacobellis of Tamakoce Wilderness Programs helps us identify animal tracks and the stories they reveal. Dan is a level 3 certified tracker who has spent over three decades learning to understand much of this hidden language. Come see what the tracker sees when walking through the woods. You'll be surprised how many "secrets" you can learn on an easy, 3-hour walk on the Victory Loop Trail. And it's lots of fun too!
Tracking is a slow-moving activity, and we will be stopping frequently for question and discussion. Dress in layers for a typical, 3-hour winter hike then add 2 layers. Bring hand & feet warmers, and adequate hiking shoes for snow. This program is for ages 12+, and registration is required. Space is limited, so sign up now! Call (838) 202-1226 or email [email protected] to register.
