About this Event

Wildlife tracking workshop

Discover your inner nature detective! Tracking is a fun and immersive way of connecting with and learning about wildife. When we learn to identify and interpret the tracks and signs of wild animals, we get glimpses into their secret lives and the world becomes alive with their stories. This is a fun and accessible way in to the fascinating and magical world of tracking - all levels of experience welcome, including absolute beginners.

  • Learn how to identify tracks (footprints) and what it tells us about what the animal was doing
  • Learn to interpret clues & signs such as burrows, scat, territorial & feeding signs
  • Discover how to know the way an animal was moving (walking/running etc) from a series of tracks and what this tells us about their behaviour
  • Explore a range of different animals and birds in a variety of habitats, including riverbanks, woodlands, roadsides, estuaries and sand dunes
  • Tracks and signs frequently encountered include those of otter, beaver (yes, really!), badger, fox, stoat, mink, rabbits, polecats and a wide range of birds
