Event Description: Bush Walks of the Fraser Coast
Feel like joining a bushwalking group? Come along to hear about all the beautiful spots on the Fraser Coast where you can enjoy nature in the company of likeminded people.
The Walks Team of Wildlife Queensland Fraser Coast Branch is dedicated in providing monthly walks covering a variety of habitats located in the region. Some are of close proximity like Tandora, the Vernon State Forest and the Wongi waterholes while others are more distant – namely Fairlie’s Knob National Park and Mt Bengarie.
You can be assured that the 41 routes the Walks Team have reconnoitred, have been surveyed for any possible risks although sometimes, the terrain can present challenges. This was the case in Autumn when the Duckinwilla Walk had to be cancelled due to flooding. Wet weather does present a dilemma when after a week of rain, the weekend can be fine. However, downpours can be beneficial in reviving wetlands and their birdlife and revealing previously, unknown water catchments.
Most of the country consists of forested habitat with varying types of undergrowth and degrees of tree canopy. The group will always find suitable shady spots fo a welcomed morning tea during which the often-excited birdwatchers and botanists share their recent discoveries.

Bookings are essential. A free ticket is required for each attendee. Tickets do not need to be printed.
Attendees under 12 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Although seating is no longer allocated, a limit is in place on the number of attendees.
We ask that you stay home if you are feeling unwell or are displaying cold/flu symptoms, no matter how mild.
