Wildlife Rescue 101 – Session Overview

In this introductory session, participants will learn the fundamentals of safely and humanely rescuing native wildlife. We'll cover how to recognize when an animal truly needs help, what situations are best left alone, and how to respond appropriately when rescue is necessary—especially during the colder winter months when animals may appear vulnerable but are simply braving the season.
Key topics will include:🛠️ Safe & Humane Containment Techniques – Learn how to safely contain and transport injured or orphaned animals using common materials like boxes, towels, gloves, and bins—without causing further stress or harm.When to Rescue vs. When Not to Intervene – Understand the difference between normal wildlife behavior in winter and signs of distress or injury that require action.🧠 Knowing What to Do When Something’s Wrong – How to assess a situation quickly and respond confidently.📲 Building Your Rescue Toolkit – We’ll share essential items to keep on hand and where to find trusted resources and wildlife professionals when you need help.
