About this Event

Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc (SOWFI) have partnered with NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc (WIRES) to provide this fantastic online and practical Wildlife First Aid course. Following completion of the online component we would like you to come to a 2 hour practical workshop after which you may even consider volunteering for SOWFI as a Wildlife Rescuer.

Receive a certificate of attendance and glove box wildlife first aid kit.

Aims and Objectives:

To introduce WHS risks involved in rescuing and transporting injured wildlife, assess injuries and contain the animal without inducing further stress or trauma.

To equip participants with the ability to confidently handle animals, identify injuries and disease as well as minimise stress.

To familiarise participants with the key aspects of species identification and develop the skills and techniques to accurately determine the species that has been rescued.

Assessments:

Each module will have a range of quizzes to which the answers can be found within the theory chapters. To be deemed competent in the online component of this course, all quizzes must be completed. A total score of above 75% must be achieved, multiple attempts for the quizzes will be available. A Completion Certificate will be emailed to you at the completion of this course.

Training Schedule:

Registration 15 minutes before the event start time

Ideally, you will complete the online component prior to attending the 2 hour practical. Both components (online & practical) need to be completed if you decide to apply to volunteer with SOWFI as a Wildlife Rescuer.

An email with your log in details to the online assessment will be sent to you 3 days prior to practical workshop. (5th October 2022)
