Experience the magic of Strumpshaw Fen at dusk on this relaxing evening guided walk. Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant dusk chorus from a variety of fenland and woodland bird species as they sing to maintain their territories before nightfall. Along the way we will aim to spot the different special species that can be spotted at this magical time of day.
As we explore the reserve during May, we might hear the distinctive boom of a male bittern, glimpse of the ghostly white barn owl out hunting or catch the spectacle of swarming dragonflies setting to roost for the night in the reeds. In addition, June gives the opportunity of spotting hawking Hobby, fluttering bats and bizarre bioluminescent Glow-worm.
With the chance of finishing with a golden sunset, glistening over the reedbeds, there are few better places to experience the serene beauty of a fenland environment on a summer’s evening, than Strumpshaw Fen.
