About this Event
During May, Wild Amersham encourages people in Amersham to take part in #NoMowMay – leaving your lawn to grow long to help nature (and see lovely wildflowers). We are organising three short ‘wildflower wanders’ in May around the sites we help manage at Amersham Hospital, St Mary’s School and Amersham Band to show you what is growing and help you identify species in your garden. The walks will be led by Marieke Bosman from Wild Amersham who is passionate about wildflowers. We charge £3 per person for the event which will go towards our work for nature.
Wild Amersham encourages people in Amersham to enjoy, learn about and support local nature. We organise nature-related events (workshops, talks, walks, etc); support local people and organisations to enhance nature in gardens, public spaces and on farms (our volunteers currently help Amersham Band, St Mary’s School and Amersham Hospital manage part of their land for nature); and monitor biodiversity at these sites and encourage local people to record wildlife sightings more generally.
We aim to enable everyone to enjoy and help make local nature richer, healthier and more resilient so that nature and people can thrive – together. We partner with other local organisations to strengthen the community and achieve greater impact. You can follow Wild Amersham via the Sustainable Amersham website and its social media and newsletter.
