Feb 7th, 2026 | 2pm | Ages 12 & Up | Vanderbilt MuseumExperience how water shapes outdoor readiness in this hands-on workshop at Sands Point Preserve. You’ll explore how to locate, collect, and purify water with natural materials and simple, reliable techniques suited for hiking, camping, and emergency situations.
This session is part of the Wilderness Survival Series. Each workshop can be enjoyed independently or as part of the full progression.
We’ll also look at how communities throughout history managed water resources, from traditional filtration methods to everyday vessels and collection systems, and consider what those lessons offer modern outdoor users. Activities are beginner-friendly, curiosity-driven, and designed to build confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
This program is planned outdoors, with indoor space available if weather requires.
