Set in truly wild and remote Essex coastal countryside, we explore the fantastic and ancient Northey Island off the Blackwater Estuary, and Maldon on foot! Walking along the amazing tidal causeway!
Experience real peace and joy, on this walk, as we walk in wild nature. Along part of the Seasalt Marsh Route.

ABOUT THE TOUR
This tour will focus on the ancient Battle of Maldon, and we visit Northey Island, where a thousand years ago, the Vikings arrived before us, and used it as a base, before the Great Battle of Maldon.
We visit and haunting and atmospheric area, thought to be the possible site of the actual Battlefield of Maldon in 991!
This is truly an adventure! A walk set in wild and remote countryside. There are few areas like this left in Essex today!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR
Enjoy delicious coffee and cake at a super coffee house in Maldon before the tour begins.
Visit what is thought to be the possible ancient Battlefield site of the Great Battle of Maldon in 991.
Walk along the fantastic coastal causeway to Northey Island, with amazing panoramic views.
Walk on wild and remote Northey Island, used as a base by the Vikings a thousand years ago!
Walk along part of the lovely Seasalt Marsh, frequented by butterflies and wild flowers.
See the famous and moving statue of Brythnoth!
THE WALK
This is a full day walking tour.
Moderate walking over uneven surfaces at times.
Not suitable for the very elderly, or those with walking difficulties.
