What to Expect
What gives plants and animals their colors? Find out by extracting pigments from a variety of plants, then mix them to make custom water colors. Get creative and paint your own artwork. We will go for a hike and look for pigments in nature while we wait for our paintings to dry. We will explore the following topics: pigments in plants and animals, traditional techniques for paint making, chlorophyll and its uses, pH and chemical reactions, the scientific method, and observations in nature.
Who Is This For?
This program is appropriate for school age children through high school.
What to Bring
Bugspray, water bottle, closed toed shoes for walking
What to Wear
