About this Event
THEME FOR THIS WALK: Autumn is a time of winding down in the hedgerows but there are still plenty of plump berries, seeds, mushrooms, and a few flowers and leaves which offer us their wild medicine.
Learn how to safely identify and sustainably harvest these wild medicinal plants and weeds and learn about the different ways you might prepare them at home from drying for tea or making oils or tinctures. Jessie will also share some of the fascinating history and folklore surrounding the use of these wild plants.
You will be stunned to learn about the rich medicinal traditions of many of the plants we consider ‘weeds’.
NB! The meeting location is NOT where the pin is on the map. You will receive precise meeting location on booking.
The walks will focus on what is in season and ready to use at that particular time of year. This is usually predominately leaves in spring, flowers later in the spring and summer, then seeds, berries and roots in the late summer and autumn. However, there are usually a bit of all of these things at all times of year!
The walks are not strenuous or particularly far in distance, they are more of a slow and relaxing ramble, with the emphasis on looking and learning (and sometimes tasting) rather than making distance. All abilities will be welcome. The walk starting location is accessible by public transport.
Jessie has an infectious enthusiasm for wild plants and foraging and loves passing on her extensive knowledge of them.
