Wild Garlic Festival Workshop Bare Health, Congleton
Wild garlic is part of our history, used back as far as the Stone Age. Quite often it is a sign of ancient woodlands, and growing in special and magical places. Part of the reemergence from Winter into Spring means heading out to these lovely places to find carpets of green, with a scent of garlic, maybe dotted with white flowers amongst the spread. There we gather some wild garlic and take it back to create some wonderful flavoursome foods. Over many years Emma has brought family and friends into the woods to gather these delicious leaves just like our ancestors did. Emma spent 3 months in 2025 eating wild food only and wild garlic and Spring greens played a big role in that project.
Several years have been spent with this versatile plant, creating all sorts of preserved goodies! We wish to share the knowledge.
Join Emma and Mel at Barehealth and explore ways to savour the wild garlic season sustainably and safely.
We will head out for a local forage, and other spring greens and explore through a hands on full day workshop with 2 ways to preserve your harvest. One way being lacto ferment. We will look at cultured butter, salts, pickles, crackers, kimchi, kraut, miso and pesto of course! We will explore how to enjoy the plant through the season and enjoy a spring lunch together.
We look forward to seeing you there. Spaces are limited to 10
