Vieles ist heute besser als früher. Aber nicht alles. WIGHT wissen, was genau. Groovig, hochvirtuos und mit Lust an retrospektiven Entdeckungsreisen zelebrieren sie ihre Musik. Stand am Beginn der psychedelische Doom im Fokus, sind WIGHT nun Miles (Davis) ahead und lassen Einflüsse von den Beatles über P-Funk bis hin zum Mahavishnu Orchestra in ihren Sound einfließen. Kommen dann noch afrikanische Rhythmen und Klänge á la Osibisa dazu, geht auch an den kältesten Orten die Sonne auf. Auf ihren Konzerten lässt sich das eindrucksvoll nacherleben: Dort herrscht regelmäßig eine andächtige Stimmung – was nicht nur an den Räucherstäbchen liegt, die sie seit ihren Anfangstagen entzünden. WIGHT entfachen ein Feuer der Begeisterung und lassen ihre Zuhörer gleichermaßen hingebungsvoll schwelgen, lauthals mitsingen und die Hüften kreisen.______________
Founded in 2010, this Basel-based quintet uses music from the post punk era as a melting pot for other musical influences such as noise, grunge, post rock, psychedelic rock and shoegaze. This fresh approach results in very unpredictable, surprising and multi-layered songs, a lot like the branches of an old, skew-whiff tree in the foggy twilight. With the second EP DISTORTED REFLECTIONS (2014) the band has found the way to their truly own sound. This has been rewarded nationwide at the M4Music Demotape Clinic 2015 with a place among the three finalist in the rock category.
The first fully-fledged album BOKEH (release date 8.4.2016) is the result of the consistent commitment by the band to their own musical path and thus is a highly manifold and dynamic record which still manages to transport the energy of their ecstatic live shows.
The four-piece band grew into new realms of post- and noise-rock over the years. Known for playing dark songs with a smile on their face, L’Arbre Bizarre have just announced their upcoming album Ortolan. A bird not known for its singing, but rather as a meal in our frying pan. The band once again guides us through their mystical work with the advice: listen for yourself and make up your own mind.
